1) If you are binge eating you may not have hunger and fullness signals. When I was a binge eater and I went off of "how much my body was telling me to eat" I would have...binged! And I did. I could eat an insane amount and still feel physically full. And STILL physically full 30 mins later.
2) It makes it worse to have another "wagon to fall off of." Have you ever decided to not eat sugar, and then you eat a little sugar, and then because you "blew it" you said "well screw it I already messed up today so I am going to eat the rest of this cake!" You made a waggon to fall of, and as soon as you do, then all the rest happens. Intuitive eating can be the same thing! If you are looking to be lightly full...perhaps a 6 out of 10 and you realize you are an 8 out of 10..."well screw it! I already went past lightly and since I blew it for today..."
3) You don't have to learn how to eat. Once you get the disordered eating out of the way, your hunger and fullness signals come back. It feels like magic. It feels amazing. And it's not hard AT ALL. It's like peeing when you need to pee. You just feel it, take care of it, and it's obvious when you are done. Your body is really good at breathing your lungs and beating your heart...AND telling you when you are hungry and full.
- The best thing you can do to get back to "intuitive eating" ... or just letting your body take over a job it's way better at than you are... is to END the binge eating. If you would like some help with that you can go to www.LydiaLifestyle.com and book a free session.
